New electrical works will guarantee energy reliability in Norte de Santander

Ministry of Mines and Energy. UPME. Bogota D.C. June 14th, 2018.  As part of the public works described in the 2015-2029 Electrical Expansion Plan, the Ministry of Mines and Energy, acting through the Unit for Mining and Energy Planning (UPME), has assigned the works for building, testing, operational start, operation and maintenance of set of electrical transformers with 500, 230 and 34.5 kilovolts on Thursday for the Ocaña substation in the Department of Norte de Santander.

This public work will included all of the connection modules for the existing electrical infrastructure, in addition to the systems related to control, protection and communications. 

"We have been assigned investments schemes as required by the national electrical systems in order to expand the transmission networks. During the last six months, we have assigned other electrical reinforcement projects in Norte de Santander for the Sogamoso substation, which together with the recent set shall allow us to keep guaranteeing energy for all," said Ricardo Ramirez, the General Director of UPME.

During the public hearing that took place at the UPME offices, the company Interconexión Eléctrica S.A. E.S.P. presented an economic offer worth USD$12 million, with an investment recovery scheme via rates over a period of 25 years beginning with the operational start of the project.
